Sharlene Plescia

I don’t know when it started – the passion I have for old, beat up, rusty, has been, classic cars and trucks. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the Ozarks of Missouri. Maybe it’s a sadness that these vehicles are rejected and my desire to make them live again.

If I could make a living from it, I would do nothing but travel the country, find abandoned cars, and take photographs so they all would live on in a book, a poster, a postcard or a framed photograph on someone’s wall and not just die out in a field. If I could, I would start my own junkyard full of history.

I started the ghost car series by accident really. I saw some old classic trucks on California Highway 49 near Sloughhouse, CA. I saw these trucks on my way from Sacramento to Jackson going to work everyday and was drawn to them. They were parked in a field next to a barn. Being a photographer by hobby, I couldn’t resist taking about 20 photos of the trucks from every angle. I opened them in Photoshop, started playing around with some of the tools and found a way to keep the old dogs alive! So here we are, my GHOST CARS © SERIES and me.

I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I enjoy taking them. Please cruise my other photographic links. Cars and trucks aren’t my only photographic passion, just my main one!
